David Emmett
PEKIN
David studied Industrial Product Design at Coventry in the United Kingdom graduating with a first class degree after completing an internship at a leading technical institute in Eindhoven, Holland. He has gone on to work as a designer both independently, and in design studios in the UK, Italy and China. Interested in all aspects of design and business strategy he thinks of himself primary as an innovator. He is currently working for the Beijing branch of the Danish design consultancy CBD.
The combination of applied technology and people's unconscious desires and actions interest him the most, with the ultimate goals of greater well-being and environmental sustainability. Following a user centred design process he drives his ideation from the solving of problems. He would like also that his products inspire people to keep them longer than their original expected life span. This is what delights him most about the products he buys and wishes the same pleasures for others.
His work has appeared in various magazines, websites and exhibitions including the Well-Tech award in Milan during Design Week 2009. The summer of 2009 will also see the release of a line of domestic cleaning products in Target stores in the US co-created while working as a designer in Italy.
